Rev. Kaitlyn Bowie Hankins spent the first twenty-two years of her life in the Midwest (Wisconsin, Illinois, & Iowa). Those years were spent with her immediate and extended family and also included her church family at the local Baptist “Brick” Church where she encountered Christ for the first time and began her journey of discipleship. Following completion of her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, she moved to Houston and taught 3rd grade/ESL in Aldine ISD, on the north side of the city for four years. During her summers, Kaitlyn volunteered with the college ministry at the United Methodist church she belonged to in The Woodlands and experienced an overwhelming call into ministry that had begun in high school. Following God, she moved to North Carolina to attend Duke Divinity School, where she worked with Duke’s Residence Life department and completed a Prison Studies Certificate alongside of her seminary education.

Following graduation, Kaitlyn returned to Houston and was appointed to serve at First UMC in June of 2014. After serving for two years she was ordained as an elder in May 2016 and is serving as Lead Pastor for The Source, the contemporary worshipping community at First Methodist. Kaitlyn feels called to develop a community of deep discipleship where people are able to come as they are to connect with one another and to grow more deeply connected to Christ. The Source is a community that seeks to provide this safe place for connection and also functions as the launch pad that helps people live out their God-created purpose to worship, serve the community they’re called to, and to share the love of Christ with the city of Houston.

Kaitlyn is blessed to share this life and ministry with her husband Thomas Hankins, who works as a Project Manager at Texas Children’s Pediatrics here in Houston.

Director of Small Groups
A born and raised Texan, Ken Coneby has his Bachelors in Sociology and a heart for bringing different cultures and people together to serve our great God. Finding his call to Ministry during college, he went on to be discipled and blessed by Directing both a Youth and College ministry. Always available to grab coffee or lunch Ken loves connecting with people. His passion is living out the biblical community lined out in Roman’s 12 and 1 Corinthians 12/13; connecting with God, lifting one another up through encouragement and support, and loving the world around us.  He is excited to live this out in the Houston area by connecting small groups and serving in missions to a city in need of God’s love.

Worship Leader
Anthony Rogers started singing and playing drums independently from a very young age. He was raised apostolic Christian, so every Sunday provided an outlet to sing. He started playing piano at age 16 and started seeking formal training. Anthony was mentored by Cliff Duncan, who played with greats like Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, and the late, great Michael Jackson. During those three years with Cliff, he learned the culture of the music business.

Anthony attended College at San Bernardino Valley College. Later he moved to Texas from California in 2011 to pursue music on a higher level. He is enrolled in the Lone Star College Systems for music. He’s played piano for a total of 6 years. Anthony recognized from an early age that God wanted to use his music to touch the world. His life has been nothing but God allowing him to walk through opened doors. Anthony joins The Source because he loves the team, this Church, but most of all he loves God.
